Full-mouth reconstruction vs. full-arch implants.
Understand the terms before comparing a treatment plan or arranging dental travel to Costa Rica.

What is full-mouth reconstruction?
The American College of Prosthodontists describes reconstruction as comprehensive rebuilding or replacement across the mouth. A plan can combine crowns, bridges, implants, dentures or other restorative care. The combination depends on the assessment.
The term alone does not mean every tooth must be extracted. Ask which teeth can be retained, which need treatment or replacement, and why. Options worth discussing may include crowns and bridges, individual dental implants and dentures.
What are full-arch implants?
A full arch is a complete upper or lower set of teeth. In a full-arch implant restoration, multiple implants support replacement teeth for that arch. All-on-4 is one approach within this treatment family; the clinical team determines the appropriate design.
One arch is not the same as both arches. A quote describing “full-mouth implants” should specify exactly which arches, implants and restorations it includes. Read more about All-on-4 and full-arch restoration.
Does “same-day teeth” mean treatment is finished?
Some implant approaches allow temporary replacement teeth at the surgical visit when clinically appropriate. Temporary teeth and final restorations are different stages. Ask when the final teeth are planned, how many appointments or trips may be needed, and what restrictions apply between visits. A marketing phrase cannot establish your personal treatment schedule.
Questions to take to your consultation
- What problems is the proposed plan intended to address?
- Which natural teeth can be retained, and what are the alternatives?
- Does the recommendation involve one arch, both arches or a combination of individual restorations?
- What temporary and final teeth are included?
- What are the relevant risks, maintenance needs and follow-up arrangements?
- Could examination or imaging change the preliminary recommendation?
Compare the written plan before the headline price
Two estimates with similar names may cover different work. Request the scope, components, materials, treatment stages and payment schedule in writing. Keep flights, accommodation and companion expenses separate so you can see the overall travel budget.
Use our dental implant quote checklist to organize those questions. Published educational descriptions are not a personalized recommendation or a confirmed price.
Planning dental travel to Costa Rica
Begin with your goals and questions rather than trying to select a procedure yourself. Once the clinical team confirms the anticipated appointments and travel requirements, accommodation and transportation can be planned around them.
Ask who to contact during your stay and after returning home, what follow-up is expected, and how a changed plan would affect your travel arrangements. Our dental trip preparation checklist helps you keep those details together.
Start with your questions.
You do not need to choose a procedure to begin. Share your general goals and preferred travel window. Your treating professionals assess the appropriate care; Divergent Escapes coordinates travel around the confirmed clinical schedule.
