Divergent Escapes · Dental Travel Guides
Your Costa Rica dental trip checklist.
Bring the care plan and travel details together in the right order. Use this practical checklist before you book, before you leave, and before you return home.
Before you book.
- Begin with your goals. Share the dental concern you want to explore and your preferred travel window. You do not need to name a procedure.
- Ask which records are needed. The inquiry form allows optional PDF, JPG, JPEG or PNG attachments up to 8 MB each. You can begin without uploads. The clinical team explains any additional records needed and how to provide them; do not send medical records through ordinary email.
- Understand the written estimate. Confirm the treatment scope, included services, possible additional procedures and payment at each stage. Use our dental implant quote checklist to prepare your questions.
- Confirm every visit. Ask how many trips are anticipated, the length of each stay, and whether healing separates treatment stages. Keep room for the clinician’s recommended review appointments.
- Discuss support needs. Ask whether someone should accompany you, particularly if sedation or assistance after treatment is anticipated. Let that answer guide your lodging and travel arrangements.
Once your dates are confirmed.
- Match flights to the care schedule. Confirm the arrival airport and transfer arrangements, and leave the recovery and review time specified by the clinic.
- Choose a suitable place to stay. Consider access, stairs or an elevator, meal arrangements, a comfortable place to rest and travel to appointments. Ask about any pickup-area limits before booking.
- Confirm transportation. Request the pickup contact, meeting instructions, appointment rides and departure transfer details in writing. Share flight changes with the designated travel contact.
- Review booking terms. Understand changes and cancellations for the clinic, flights and accommodation separately. Ask how a change in the clinical schedule would affect the travel arrangements.
- Keep activities flexible. Plan sightseeing around clinical guidance; do not assume time between appointments is unrestricted vacation time.
Before you leave home.
- Check the current travel-document and entry requirements that apply to your citizenship and itinerary with the relevant official authorities and airline.
- Keep clinic and travel contacts, accommodation details and confirmed appointments readily accessible.
- Follow the clinician’s instructions for any records, medicines, preparation or recovery supplies. Ask the prescribing professional about medication questions.
- Tell your companion how to reach the clinic and who handles travel changes.
- Confirm with any insurer what your actual policy covers, including planned treatment and related disruptions; do not assume ordinary trip cover includes dental treatment.
Before returning home.
- Complete the clinic’s scheduled review and confirm when you are cleared to travel.
- Request written aftercare and the contact for clinical concerns.
- Obtain treatment records for your dentist at home and confirm any ongoing maintenance or review appointments.
- Keep the applicable written guarantee terms and understand how to request an assessment if a concern develops.
- If another Costa Rica visit is planned, confirm when dates should be finalized before buying the next flights.
