Find your way to unwind.
Choose thermal relaxation, selected spa appointments, yoga, or simply fewer plans. Start with the kind of rest you need.

Arenal & Tabacón
Enjoy warm water and tropical gardens through a Tabacón stay or a separately reserved thermal visit.

Río Perdido & Bagaces
Settle into Río Perdido’s inland thermal-river and canyon setting, with space between optional activities.

Nosara & Playa Guiones
Choose a coastal stay with individual yoga classes, a dated retreat, or simply more open mornings.

Santa Teresa
Pair beach downtime with optional yoga or surfing, making room location and an easy daily routine priorities.

Tamarindo & Langosta
Choose boutique coastal comfort with selected wellness options, dining, and gentle outings.

Manuel Antonio
Make a restful coastal stay the center of the trip, with optional spa time and a suitable guided nature morning.
Rest that feels like your kind of rest.
Explore three sample trip plans
You do not need a full retreat schedule to feel restored. Start with one of these sample stays, then choose how much—or how little—to put on the calendar.
Arenal thermal escape
Choose a thermal-resort stay or a hotel with a separately reserved thermal visit.
A good fit for: Couples who want gentle variety alongside relaxation.
See how the days could flow
Keep one guided nature morning, one spa appointment if desired, and plenty of unscheduled time. Compare hotel access with day-pass benefits.
Río Perdido, inland Guanacaste
Stay in the thermal-river and forest setting near Bagaces.
A good fit for: Travelers seeking a quieter property-based stay.
See how the days could flow
Mix thermal time with optional yoga or meditation and one suitable walk. Check the path and steps to river areas before choosing activities.
Nosara or Santa Teresa
Choose one coastal base and stay long enough to settle in.
A good fit for: Travelers who enjoy movement, coastal atmosphere, and open time.
See how the days could flow
Reserve classes individually or select a dated retreat. Keep beach time, meal plans, and quiet mornings flexible instead of moving between both towns.
Spa weekend or retreat?
An à-la-carte stay lets you choose individual appointments. A retreat has specific dates, teachers, inclusions, and a shared schedule.
Thermal access matters
Tabacón hotel guests receive thermal access and access to Shangri-La Gardens for ages 18+. A day pass is a different product; request its exact benefits.
Quiet must be specific
Ask about room location, neighboring roads, evening entertainment, air-conditioning, steps, and restaurant distance. A scenic room can still be inconvenient.
Sample trip ideas, not fixed packages. Nights describe time at your chosen bases; travel days may need extra accommodation. Your personal proposal confirms availability, transport, booked experiences, inclusions, and terms.

| Setting | Main appeal | Stay style to discuss | Comfort detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arenal / Tabacón | Thermal waters and gardens | Thermal-resort nights or a reserved day visit | Hotel access versus pass benefits; reserve spa times separately. |
| Río Perdido / Bagaces | Inland thermal river and canyon scenery | A quieter property-based retreat | Steps and paths to the river, room location, and optional sessions. |
| Nosara / Playa Guiones | Yoga and a coastal rhythm | Individual classes or a dated retreat | Teaching style, actual class timetable, and studio distance. |
| Santa Teresa | Movement, beach time, and downtime | A longer stay at one coastal base | Room noise, air-conditioning, and the daily transport plan. |
| Tamarindo / Langosta | Boutique comfort with dining nearby | Relaxation with selected treatments or classes | Which sessions cost extra and the exact route to the beach. |
| Manuel Antonio | Forest-and-coast scenery | Rest with an optional gentle nature morning | Hills, stairs, shuttles, and spa arrangements at the chosen property. |

More planning guidance
Start with your own rhythm.
Tell us whether you want solitude, time as a couple, yoga, massage, thermal pools, or simply an excellent room and no alarm. A scheduled retreat and a quiet hotel stay are different experiences.
Reduce the number of moves.
Our starting suggestion is three or four nights in one restorative base, with more time for remote coastal areas. Compare the hours spent transferring with the time you actually gain at the property.
Secure the special moments.
If a couples’ treatment or a particular class is central to your trip, request it while planning the stay. A room reservation does not reserve a therapist, treatment time, or place in a class.
Small details shape the stay.
Tell us about quiet rooms, comfortable bedding, dietary needs, air-conditioning, stairs, and walking distances. We request concrete property information rather than relying on the word luxury.
Arrive prepared.
Enjoy the moment.
Comfort first.
Pack swimwear, breathable clothing, easy layers for evenings, and secure footwear with grip for wet paths. Bring a second swimsuit if you prefer a dry set between thermal visits.
Bring what makes rest easy.
Pack your usual toiletries, sun protection, a reusable water bottle, and a small bag for damp clothing. Ask whether robes, towels, lockers, and yoga mats are provided before taking up luggage space.
Leave space between activities.
Follow posted pool guidance and staff instructions. Allow time to change, cool down, and enjoy the gardens instead of fitting a thermal visit between two rushed transfers.
Choose the right session.
Share your experience level and any movement limitations with the instructor. Ask about class intensity, language, equipment, and alternatives before committing to a multi-session schedule.
Explain your preferences.
Tell the therapist about pressure preferences, sensitivities, and areas you want avoided. Ask what the booked treatment includes and arrive early enough to complete the consultation without rushing.
Keep part of the day open.
Choose one main commitment and leave the rest flexible. Put phones away for a meal or walk, and agree with your companions on whether shared time or individual space matters most.
A little clarity.
A better escape.
Do we have to join a retreat?
No. We can plan a hotel stay with a few selected wellness experiences, or explore a more structured retreat. Retreat dates, teachers, minimum stays, and schedules need separate confirmation.
Are spa treatments and yoga included?
Only if they are listed in your proposal. A hotel may offer a spa or yoga space while charging separately for sessions and treatments. We identify reservations, fees, and inclusions before booking.
Can we visit Tabacón without staying overnight?
Yes, Tabacón offers reserved day-pass options. Check the selected pass’s entry window, dining, towels, and locker arrangements. Hotel guests receive thermal access and access to the Shangri-La Gardens for ages 18+; do not assume a day pass has the same benefits. Reserve spa appointments separately when they are not explicitly included.
Is Río Perdido a beach resort?
No. It is an inland thermal-river and canyon setting near Bagaces. Choose it for that environment, or combine it with a separate coastal stay if beach time is important.
Can beginners join yoga?
Ask for a class designed for your level and describe any mobility limitations. Not every session is gentle or suitable for a first lesson. We can request a private session when available.
Is this medical treatment or rehabilitation?
These are leisure travel and relaxation experiences. They are not medical treatment or supervised rehabilitation. If a health condition affects heat exposure, massage, or exercise, obtain personal clinical advice before choosing those activities.
Can you accommodate dietary or access needs?
Share specifics early. We request confirmation from each property about meals, allergens, steps, paths, and facilities. A general wellness label does not establish allergen safety or step-free access.
Can one of us relax while the other explores?
Yes. Tell us your different interests so we can shape individual options around the same base. You can reunite for meals or downtime without requiring everyone to follow the same schedule.
Are children welcome?
Policies differ by property, room category, pool area, class, and spa treatment. Give us children’s ages before we recommend a stay; adults-only spaces and participation limits need checking.
Can we reserve a couples’ treatment?
Ask for the treatment, duration, preferred time, and whether you want to be in the same room. A spa may accommodate two appointments without having a couples’ room available. We request the precise arrangement rather than assuming it follows from booking together.
What footwear should we take to thermal visits?
Tabacón strongly recommends water shoes in its natural thermal environment. Bring secure footwear with grip and follow the selected property’s instructions for paths and pools. Ask about changing areas and towel provision when choosing a day pass.
Can this work without yoga or a spa schedule?
Yes. Rest can mean a comfortable room, unrushed meals, a pool, and one gentle outing. Tell us what you want less of as well as what you want to add, and we can keep the itinerary deliberately light.
Less to organize.
More room to breathe.
Tell us what you want more of—and what you want less of. We’ll shape a restful escape around you.
