Your kind of day on the water.
Explore fishing charters from Los Sueños and Herradura, Quepos, or Guanacaste, a Caribbean fishing stay, or a coastal sailing experience. Start with fishing, scenery, or a celebration—we’ll help match your outing, accommodation, and transfers to the trip you want.

Los Sueños & Herradura fishing charters
Add a marina-based fishing day to your Herradura or Jacó stay, choosing inshore or offshore around your interests.

Quepos sport fishing
Pair a Quepos charter with a Manuel Antonio stay and enjoyable options for non-fishing companions.

Guanacaste & Papagayo
Add fishing to a northern beach stay, selecting the actual departure port around your hotel.

Barra del Colorado & Tortuguero
Make tarpon or snook fishing a dedicated Caribbean lodge leg, with access and fishing days planned together.

Tamarindo & Guanacaste sailing
Enjoy coastal scenery and a sunset afternoon, choosing a private arrangement or shared departure to suit your group.

Manuel Antonio catamaran cruises
See the forested coastline from the water, adding a different perspective to a Manuel Antonio stay.
Choose what you want from the water.
Explore three sample trip plans
Fishing, a sociable sunset cruise, and a private celebration create very different days. These sample plans help you choose the right starting point.
Herradura or Quepos
Stay near your chosen marina and keep two possible charter days open.
A good fit for: First charters and mixed-interest couples or groups.
See how the days could flow
Choose inshore or offshore fishing first. Add a separate beach or forest outing for companions and plan an easy evening after an early departure.
Barra del Colorado
Plan a dedicated Caribbean lodge leg around the transfer schedule.
A good fit for: Anglers who want a distinct fishery rather than a casual side excursion.
See how the days could flow
Tarpon and snook are the regional interests to discuss. Confirm fishing days, boat style, tackle, baggage allowance, and meals in the lodge plan.
Tamarindo or Manuel Antonio
Choose one coastal base and reserve a sailing afternoon.
A good fit for: Anniversaries, birthdays, and travelers prioritizing scenery and time together.
See how the days could flow
Compare private versus shared departures. Match music, shade, seating, food, boarding, and sunset return with your group’s expectations.
Offshore fishing
Pacific interests can include sailfish, marlin, tuna, and mahi-mahi. It generally means more open-water travel; discuss trip length and comfort.
Inshore & Caribbean fishing
Pacific inshore interests include roosterfish, snapper, and jacks. Barra del Colorado offers a different tarpon-and-snook focus. Targets depend on dates and conditions.
Sailing & catamaran outings
Choose scenery and atmosphere first. Swimming or snorkeling stops, their supervision, and equipment are separate inclusions to confirm.
Sample trip ideas, not fixed packages. Nights describe time at your chosen bases; travel days may need extra accommodation. Your personal proposal confirms availability, transport, booked experiences, inclusions, and terms.

More planning guidance
Fishing or sailing?
Tell us whether your priority is fishing time, scenery, a celebration, or a relaxed cruise. Trying to combine every activity into one departure can leave less time for the thing you wanted most.
Know what you are booking.
Ask for boat type, duration, passenger limit, transfers, equipment, food, drinks, fees, and cancellation terms in one proposal. Compare private-charter prices per boat with shared-cruise prices per person.
Keep a second window open.
For an important boat outing, our planning suggestion is to allow another possible day at the same base. A spare day does not guarantee rebooking, but makes a weather change easier to accommodate.
Everyone deserves a good day.
Tell us how many people will actually fish and who would prefer a different outing. Confirm seating and shade for passengers as carefully as tackle for anglers.
Arrive prepared.
Enjoy the moment.
Dress for glare and spray.
Wear a sun shirt, secure hat, sunglasses with a retaining strap, and footwear approved by the crew. Pack a light rain layer; exposed decks can feel very different from the hotel pool.
Keep essentials dry.
Bring sunscreen, a refillable water bottle if permitted, a small dry bag, and the identification or license documents requested for the outing. Leave bulky luggage and valuables at your accommodation.
Ask about the first step.
Dock boarding, a beach launch, and a tender transfer need different levels of balance. Describe mobility needs before booking and request a clear explanation of steps, ladders, and toilet access.
Settle paperwork before departure.
Ask us to confirm the required INCOPESCA fishing license, who obtains it, and whether the fee is included. Do not assume the boat’s authorization replaces an individual angler’s requirements.
Follow the crew’s briefing.
Locate your life jacket, keep walkways clear, and follow instructions around hooks, lines, and moving equipment. Enter the water only when the crew permits it.
Speak up about comfort.
Tell the crew promptly if you feel unwell or need shade or a break. If motion sickness is a concern, plan ahead with your pharmacist or clinician rather than choosing medication on board.
A little clarity.
A better escape.
Do we need fishing experience?
Tell us whether this is your first charter or a fishing-focused trip. We can request an outing with suitable guidance and clarify how much instruction is included. Beginners should discuss trip length and comfort as well as target species.
What can we catch?
Pacific offshore targets can include sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna, and mahi-mahi. Pacific inshore targets can include roosterfish, snapper, and jacks. Around Barra del Colorado and Tortuguero, tarpon and snook are the main interests. Coast, fishing style, dates, and conditions determine the realistic target list; no species, size, or catch is guaranteed.
Do I need a fishing license?
INCOPESCA states that anglers fishing from a boat must carry a current fishing license. We confirm the requirements and arrangements for your group before departure. Fees and processing should be explicitly identified in your proposal.
Can we keep the fish?
Ask the captain before booking about release practices, species restrictions, and any handling of retained catch. Do not assume a catch can be kept, cooked by your hotel, or taken home. We do not promise a meal from your fishing day.
Does a sunset sail include snorkeling?
Some cruises offer a water stop, but the itinerary and equipment vary. Visibility, swell, and weather can change the plan. Confirm swimming requirements and equipment sizes, especially for children; a boat seat does not automatically include a guided snorkel session.
Can children or non-swimmers join?
Suitability depends on the vessel, boarding, conditions, and trip length. Give us ages and swimming ability in advance so we can check life-jacket sizing and participation rules. Joining a cruise and entering the water are separate decisions.
Is this a private trip?
Only when your proposal specifies a private charter. Shared cruises may include other guests. Tell us about your preferred atmosphere, group size, and any celebration before we compare options.
What if the sea conditions change?
The captain determines whether the outing can operate safely and may change the route or water stops. Review the specific cancellation and rescheduling terms before paying; rain alone may not qualify for a refund.
Can you arrange other fishing regions?
We can also explore a South Pacific fishing stay around Golfito or the Osa Peninsula. These six features are starting points; the final route depends on availability, your priorities, and the time you have.
Should we choose inshore or offshore fishing?
Choose around your target species and comfort with a longer open-water day. Pacific inshore and offshore charters offer different possibilities, while the Caribbean tarpon-and-snook fishery is a distinct trip. Ask for the actual route and fishing time, not just the charter label.
What does a charter price need to include?
Look for total price, taxes and fees, vessel, duration, passengers, active anglers, tackle, bait, licenses, transfers, food and drinks. Identify gratuities and optional extras separately. A private boat quote and a shared ticket cannot be compared using headline price alone.
Can you plan a Los Sueños fishing vacation with lodging and transfers?
Yes. Tell us your preferred dates, number of nights, group size, number of anglers, budget range, and whether you prefer inshore or offshore fishing. We can bring a Herradura or Jacó stay, a Los Sueños charter, and transfers together in a personalized proposal. Let us know what non-fishing companions would enjoy, too. Your proposal identifies the accommodation, vessel, charter duration, transport, inclusions, and booking terms; availability is checked for your dates.
Can we request a quieter sailing experience?
Yes—tell us whether you prefer a private celebration, a relaxed shared cruise, or a more social departure. We check the actual vessel, group size, music, food, seating, and boarding before recommending the outing. A sunset departure does not by itself define the atmosphere.
Your next great day
starts on the water.
Tell us your travel dates, group size, preferred coast, and whether you want fishing or sailing. Include your budget range and whether you need a coastal stay and transfers. We’ll bring the details together around your group.
